Course Portfolio Management
We work with universities to build market success and market orientation in portfolio at three levels:
- New Course Proposal
- The Strategic Monitoring of the Current Portfolio
- Locating New Opportunities/Market Evaluations for the Course Portfolio (trends nationally and internationally that can lead to identifying potential niche courses).
In a higher education environment where institutional values are so similar, how can a university seriously hope to create a distinctive and sustainable position? Programs are THE most significant factor under the control of the University that can impact directly on student recruitment.
How can we help?
We can help build a collaborative approach to portfolio management between academics and marketers. In almost all universities, this is a major hurdle where programs typically are an academic only domain – rarely open to marketers.
The Knowledge Partnership has developed a suite of unique Portfolio Management Tools to assist universities build a greater market orientation in their programs and program development processes.
For example, we support course/program portfolio development and evaluation in universities through our EMMaP (Economic Market Attractiveness of Portfolio) Scorecard. EMMaP evaluates new and existing programs/courses against a set of robust metrics under the following headings:
- Economic
- Mission (aligned)
- Market Attractiveness
- Performance
EMMaP creates a consistent and evidence based framework allowing all programs to be compared on a like for like basis. EMMaP ensures any internal portfolio review is evidence based, but the metrics are determined at the outset by the client from a menu provided by The Knowledge Partnership.
