We have recently placed an interim manager for a client who is waiting for a new senior communications specialist to come on board. Interim management is a viable solution when a senior staff member leaves or takes maternity. There may be special projects where you simply need "trusted arms and legs" or where you do not have specialist staff in-house to meet the brief.

Because of our internal operations we are in contact with marketing and communications specialists in a number of counties. There has been considerable interest from young professionals who would like to gaining wider experience by working for 6 months in a similar organisation in another country. An international "Job Swop" (and house swop) would be the best means of this working. The Knowledge Partnership website would be a great place to make this matching process work. We firmly believe that marketing and communications in the knowledge sectors is different because of the importance of people and organisational culture. Many great marketing and communications directors and senior middle managers have joined the sector but they have found adjusting to their new context a challenge. We will therefore be offering flexible mentoring and coaching support which might be delivered through telephone conversations, email and the occasional review meeting. The service would be delivered either by a Knowledge Partnership director or a peer professional in a non-competitive organisation. The benefit is a more effective manager more quickly:
- Improved cultural sensitivity
- Speedy understanding of the regulatory environment
- Less need to go on expensive and off-the-shelf training
More experience managers may wish to use the service when they face specific challenges too – new responsibilities, crises, piloting through a strategy for the first time.

Jobs@theknowledgepartnership is a free service that you can make use and you HR department can make use of. We will post a short description of your vacancies in any area of marketing, communications, development or alumni relations, recruitment, etc and provide a free link to your job site.

But here’s the difference. Our site will be visited by professionals from several advanced English speaking counties and other knowledge sectors.

We are not head hunters and do not claim to be but we can help you in search and selection, or work with your consultants (for a fee). We have just helped to place two new directors for existing clients. We are extremely well networked – again across relevant countries and sectors.
