HEliX for Colleges – 4-Strand Staff Survey

This captures practice and perceptions using 4 integrated survey tools, each one designed for a segment of the college community – the principals’ senior management group, the wider SMT, supervisors and general staff. The whole process is administered by The Knowledge Partnership

Having agreed the sample (or a census of all staff) we provide templates for how to communicate the survey to the internal community to optimise response rates. Participants are then provided with a link to the online instruments to complete online. This might take approximately 45 minutes but busy staff can save their responses and return to the survey later, so we advise you allow them 2-3 elapsed weeks for the fieldwork period.

We recognise that some staff will not have easy access to the Internet and others with disabilities may find an online survey difficult to respond to, so we have alternative methods for these groups.

The Knowledge Partnership undertakes the complete analysis of the survey responses including qualitative open-ended responses.

The report highlights strengths and weaknesses, identifying key priorities and surfaces good practice for celebration and development. Responses against each of the 35 indicators of good practice are mapped for each of the four staff groups, thus highlighting the extent to which staff agree/disagree on how well developed good practice is and what the priorities for action should be.
