Marketing Excellence in Further Education
FE MaXimizE
FE MaXimizE is a method of evaluating how well your college is managing the key activities that contribute to success in student markets. It assesses:
- Your market orientation against a best practice framework
- Practice against others in the sector (benchmarking against “best in class”)
- Progress on a journey to excellence
MaXimizE uses a framework of good practice (download the PDF here) co-created with support from Queensland TAFE and the national LSC in England. It was piloted by six colleges before being launched.
Colleges are assessed against a set of best practice statements clustered under three key success areas:
- Strategic Management
- Marketing Practice
- The Impact on the Learner (the Learner Journey)
This approach has been used by general, specialist and sixth-form providers in three continents.
You can apply FE MaXimizE using an online self-assessment process, or through independent evaluation involving specialists from The Knowledge Partnership on a consultancy basis.
For colleges who’ve adopted FE MaXimizE, the hidden benefits are often as valuable as the formal outcomes. The process creates:
- A matrix linking staff across a College – identifying connections between diverse members of staff and departments
- A mosaic that pieces together often disparate marketing activities within a college – creating a picture that everyone can see
- A map to inform future thinking – guiding strategic thinking and operational action
FE MaXimizE establishes current strengths and weaknesses and guides planning for cross-college marketing activity – at operational and strategic levels
