Higher Expectations
Higher Expectations gives a detailed picture of the choices made by applicants when selecting their universities. First published in 2005, it is based on interviews with over 10,000 new full-time undergraduates right at the start of their university careers and gives a unique picture at both a national and institutional level. It allows subscribers to explore some of the key competitive and policy questions facing the sector and their own institution.
Higher Expectations explores trends in admissions and selection. It looks at what's most important to students when making their university choices, the significance of location, open days, the application process, campus life, social life and recommendation factors. It includes analysis by key educational and demographic variables such as UCAS tariff, course type, gender, home background, social background, nationality (UK, EU, overseas) and widening-access students.
It is available to subscribers on a modular basis. Clients can order customized reports to benchmark against competitors on the key attributes students face when making their selections. Other modules s how institutional strengths and weaknesses comparing the views of first-year students who accepted a place with those who rejected offers in favour of the competition. The pricing module provides sophisticated analysis on the perceived value at a subject level.
