Portfolio Enrolment & Student Profile Database (PESP)
Engaging the use of our PESP database enables us to look at the course activity at undergraduate and postgraduate level within the higher education sector.
Our database has a keyword search facility enabling us to search for courses in very niche subject areas, e.g. Climate Change, thus not limiting us to analysis simply using the JACS coding system.
The PESP database can be used to answer questions such as:
- How many institutions offer courses in Sustainable Engineering?
- Which institutions have delivered successful courses in this subject?
- Which course titles appear to be successful?
- Is course activity mainly seen in full-time or part-time mode? Or are most courses offered as Distance Learning?
- Which course titles appear most appealing to well qualified students?
- Which course titles appear more attractive to overseas international markets? Which are the key recruitment countries?
- Which institutions in a specific region are active in this subject area? What are their courses called and which have had the most success?
Data is currently available for recruiting courses in academic years 2008/09 and 2009/10 using the volume of year 1 enrolments reported to HESA. We will be updating the database to include 2010/11 enrolments when this data is released later this month.
The PESP database is frequently used within our broader Portfolio Review services or as a way for institutions to test the market for proposed new course development; by identifying potential competitors and establishing key terms used within successful course titles.
Stand alone reports based on PESP data start from £350+VAT and can include specific course titling, recruitment and student quality, international appeal, analysis of optimal tuition fees etc.
