Universities & HEIs

The Directors of the Knowledge Partnership have many years expertise in working with universities, both traditional and modern, and other colleges of higher education. We can help with marketing and communications strategies, quantitative and qualitative research, interim management, reputation research and organisational change.
UK Higher Education
The UK team has worked with 18 higher education institutions over the past 15 months. As many of our UK clients prefer our work for them to remain confidential, we tend not to list our current clients, but are able to give an idea of the work we have been doing over the last year:
-
For a post 92 university, we have been undertaking analysis and research to develop a part-time/distance education strategy. The outcomes cover branding, portfolio, price elasticity and fees, segmentation and positioning and marketing communications.
- Working with another post 92 university, we have been supporting a very sophisticated and thorough approach to market segmentation to underpin a marketing strategy and positioning. The university has also commissioned qualitative research and a major quantitative study/statistical analysis to identify motivational based segments that best fit its offer. A by-product is a robust model of student decision-making.
- We have started work with a Russell Group university on the development of a strategy for postgraduate taught programmes within specific schools of study. This market seems to be facing pressure and even universities with strong credentials are now realising that their response to this market needs to be sharper. There is, of course, concern that with higher debt fewer graduates will choose to remain in HE an progress immediately to a masters programme
- Our strategy of working in Australia and New Zealand (and hopefully Canada from 2007) is also designed to benefit our UK clients by transferring knowledge and intelligence as to how to address emergent policy or market conditions. Our project with Southampton University for the Higher Education Academy illustrates how this approach can add value. The project, selected from over 400 proposals, is examining the probably impact of the new UK fees regime on both market demand and expectations of service.
